    broken bones who needs them

The most annoying thing happened just over a week ago while playing inĀ one of our best games of the season. My thumb decided to get itself broke and now i have to miss at least 4 games. Why is it that the mind is always strong but the body is weak.

West Park 40 - 17 Vale Of Lune

Sunday, September 2, 2007, 11:46 AM GMT [west park results]

The first game of the season started with a minutes silence for a Vale of lune player who died. The Vale of Lune side had a huge size and weight advantage over our side. We started on the back foot with a kick off which went straight out on the full. For the first ten minutes it was all Vale of Lune with some good defensive play from our side holding the Vale of Lune players up after they had gone over the line but they finally scored a try which seemed to wake us up. After the initial spell Vale of Lune never really got back into the game. Good work from the forwards saw West Park score their first try when Andrew Sterry went over the line from short distance. Another try soon followed, the first for Alex Watts who went on to score three more for his side. It was a sensational individual break down the wing going in under the posts. Good movement from the backs created space for Alex to go in for his second try. Vale of Lune then used their size to score their second try to leave the half time score 21 - 12. The second half began just as the first half had with the Vale of Lune forwards using brute strength to push us off the ball. but our defence held off the surge and soon alex watts went over for his third try of the game with a jinking run that saw him go past three players. then after a piece of sloppy handling from us Vale of Lune went over for what would be their last try of the game. Then another strong attacking move from our backs led to alex watts final try of the game. Then with both packs becoming tired it was a break from myself that set up the final try of the game with warren hunt goin over for his first of the new season. But the game came to a sudden end when ryan connelly was injured and had to be carried off the pitch after injuring his neck, thankfully he was given the all clear with just compressed neck muscles.
